Fenchihu is located 1400 meters above sea level and was once a middle stop for the old Alishan forest trains. It is a small town famous for their old Street, bamboo trees, and lunch boxes. We headed out for late lunch once we settle down even though there’s heavy rainfall. Thanksfully, the hostel owner lend their umbrella and gave us a map of the town for us to walk around. Our late lunch was at “阿良鐵支路便當” Aliang railway lunchbox.

Lunchbox used to be the food for lumberjacks and workers in the past and it become a signature food nowin Fenchihu. The lunchbox was looks appetizing and are truly delicious. Each lunch box cost at TWD120 that contained pork and vege and served with a bowl of hot soup. Right next to the shop is selling doughnut that comes with four flavor (Original, cheese, strawberry and chocolate).The texture is differ with western doughnut. The doughnut is taste similar to croissant as it is crispy in the exterior. Freshly baked based on order.
The rain stopped once we finished our late lunch and started to walk around the town. We walked through the walkway surrounded by tall trees to the next destination House of Starry Starry Night 星空小屋 (Xing-kong-xiao-wu). On the way we passed by the famous doughnut stall which is known as the century doughnut stall. There only sell the original flavour and tastes good too.

The house was the set used for the movie Starry Starry Night (星空). It was film based on an illustrated novel of Jimmy Liao. (Refer here for the plot of the movie.) The set was initially built in Alishan Park and then transfered to Fenchihu due to safety issues. There are no authority in charge of the maintenance of the set thus the some of the furniture has become faulty. The exterior of the house still has the mystery/dreamy feel as the movie with the fog in fenchihu.
Further down the town is the traditional Japanese building for police station which is now known as 奮起湖文史陳列室. It is now refurnished to a cosy coffee shop by maintaining the design of the old building. You can find souvenir and the tourist stamp here too.

Walking down a slope from here brought us to the Century street which is first street and eldest street of fenchihu. It is then famous for movie shooting due to the old building. However there are nothing much to visit and it look like a paper town now. Just beside the century street there are a walkway in bamboo forest.
The walkway is away from the crowd of tourist and very peaceful that remind me of the movie KungFu Panda. Inner Peace!
After that we back to the current old street of Fenchihu which also known as the highest old street of Taiwan. The street is short where there are shop selling souvenir and different snack and the famous Aiyu Jelly. At the end of the street there is a stair to get to the Fenchihu Railway Station which is open for visit.
We got back to the hostel then for shower as no hot water supply at night. When we are done and out for dinner most of the shop are closed. Precisely is the only shop still opening is 7 eleven. So we settled our dinner with food from 7 eleven. Cheap and delicious indeed! There are large variety of food offered and the services are good. The best thing is we like to collect the sticker for gift exchange. I got myself and Sueyee a LINE roller stamp from here.
Similarly we spent the night at the room with Taiwan variety show again in Fenchihu. While I'm the first 1 who KO and fall asleep early. Ending this post here with the themed song for Stary stary night by MayDay, one of my favourite song by Mayday that suit the atmosphere in Fenchihu.
